"Jabara" is a type of sour citrus fruit similar to yuzu, sudachi, and kabosu. It is called the "phantom citrus" because it was only found naturally in Kitayama Village in the world, and its rarity and limited production have earned it this name. The name "jabara" originates from the meaning of "dispelling evil spirits," and it has been consumed for its auspiciousness in Kitayama Village since ancient times. It has high sugar content and a unique flavor profile that is both bitter and sour yet mellow, making it addictive after just one taste.

Additionally, unlike common citrus fruits, "jabara" is cultivated without any pesticide spraying for three months before harvest. It consistently passes residual pesticide tests conducted by third-party institutions, meeting national standards. Recently, there has been media coverage speculating that a component abundant in jabara called "naringin," a type of flavonoid, may alleviate symptoms of hay fever. It has also become the savior of village revitalization and has developed into a major industry in Kitayama Village.

Our Jabara Business

01.Production of Jabara (Management and Operation of Farms)

Utilizing "jabara" produced in village-operated farms and farms of the Jabara Production Cooperative. There are approximately 8 hectares of jabara fields throughout the village.

02.Product Development, Processing, and Manufacturing

We manufacture and sell over 30 types of jabara products. Additionally, we have established a product planning department and constructed a new processing plant in November 2023 to develop new products.

We develop products that leverage the functionality and nutrients of jabara, as well as those utilizing local specialties.

We also welcome companies interested in OEM production at the new processing plant, development of collaboration products using jabara, and business partnerships for promotional products, etc.

03.Operation of Internet Mail Order

We manage and operate the official website "Jabara Village" and have storefronts on various malls such as Rakuten. We also operate the direct sales site "Kei-chan Market."

At "Jabara Village," specializing in jabara products, we sell processed jabara products and seasonal jabara fruits.

At "Kei-chan Market," we deliver carefully selected delicious ingredients from Kishu and Kumano directly from the production area.

04.Supply of Products and Raw Materials to Retailers, Restaurants, and Corporations

We supply products to roadside stations, various restaurants, supermarkets, department stores nationwide, as well as jabara raw materials to manufacturers.

We accept small-lot wholesale to retailers and also handle inquiries for large-scale transactions.

05.Collaboration with Universities and Medical Institutions, Contributing to Research, Investigation, and Analysis of Jabara

We collaborate with universities to conduct research and analysis on the functional components of jabara. A paper demonstrating the effectiveness of jabara on type I allergies has been published based on clinical trials conducted in collaboration with universities.

Additionally, we regularly conduct monitor surveys, and the results show that approximately half of the respondents experienced relief from hay fever symptoms.

The repeated administration of surveys allows us to gather more opinions from a wider range of people, thereby enhancing the credibility of the data.
